Welcome to | The Brevity of Life
Welcome!
And, thanks for visiting the Brevity Of Life Website. We are glad that you are here. The mission and purpose of this website is to bring encouragement and hope to all those who dare to take a brief time-out from their busy life schedule to contemplate their very own mortality, and the afterlife.
When my younger sister, Jane, died at age 33, the Lord gave me an analogy of a Parking Meter to cause me to realize how very precious a Gift, Life is. My wife, Barbara and I have shared these realizations verbally through the years with folks, and have been encouraged by friends to print these “shared thoughts” for wider distribution to others. We considered it a real answer to prayer when after reading The Brevity Of Life transcript, a Christian donor offered to pay for the professional printing costs for The Brevity Of Life Booklet!
‘Why, a Parking Meter, you may ask?”
You see, we are all on “METERED TIME“, just like with a Parking Meter. Only, this time, our Creator God, puts in His priceless “Heavenly Celestial Coins” known as “TIME.” We, as mere mortal human beings cannot buy “TIME.” We cannot even buy one more second of “TIME!” But, our Creator God buys each of us “TIME” known only to Him, as He deposits His various “Heavenly Celestial Coins” into our individual parking meters. When that predetermined and prepaid gift deposit has been made, a process we call “lifetime” begins with a personal countdown clock, which starts ticking away, for each person’s lifetime timeline. I believe this analogy of a Parking Meter to be biblically and theologically correct based on various 4,000 – 5,000 year old, God-Inspired, recorded, and preserved Scripture passages, mainly from the Old Testament of the Bible.
A reading from the Bible, in the book of Psalms, chapter 139, and verse16, in the modern day language version of the Message Bible, says,
how I was sculpted from nothing into something.
Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you,
The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day.”
So, our Creator God buys us the “TIME“, and we are on His “Dime”! Therefore, we are all in his debt. Life is a Gift! So, don’t be angry with God, the giver and sustainer of all life, when a loved-one dies, or “Expires,” as like when the Parking Meter sign flashes the word, “Expired,” and when that prepaid purchased TIME has been spent. Rather, we need to have a paradigm shift in our thinking. We should realize, and say, “Thank you, God, for the prepaid gift of life; for the gift of “TIME” down here that this loved-one shared with us before they died.” Be grateful for the precious and priceless “TIME” which our Creator God bought and paid for this loved-one. Remember, we will all, one day, die.
Someone has famously stated,
“Yesterday is History. Tomorrow is Mystery. But today, is a Gift, and that is why it is called The Present!” Today is your Present!
Celebrate Life!
